Music Teams

Our music teams lead our worship service with lively praise songs and reflective prayer songs. Anyone interested in music can contact our Music Director Eva Finke for information on rehearsals and worship schedules.

Choir
Tuesdays 7pm Rehearsal

Choir serves as a more formal ensemble and prepares choral anthems for worship services. Musical styles can range from contemporary praise songs, to early sacred music, to settings of traditional hymns. The choir typically wears choral robes and sings in three- or four-part harmony. Our members are mostly adults with some choral experience, either from a school or a community choir, but anyone with a desire to prepare music in praise and who is willing to learn—or try something new—is welcome.

Praise Band
Tuesdays 6pm Rehearsal

Praise Band acts as a musical chameleon at Suamico UMC, sometimes serving as a band that leads congregational singing, sometimes as a host of special music—and sometimes all facets in between! Our musicians come from various backgrounds and levels of musical training, but we include all types of non-choral and non-handbell contributions to the musical community of the church. Our favorite opportunities include leading the congregation in more contemporary interpretations of old and new favorites and helping include musical requests from the congregation in worship.

Handbell Choir
Mondays 6:30pm Rehearsal

Our Handbell Choir is our newest ensemble, thanks to a 2017 memorial donation. We are a three octave choir still learning the ropes—but having a lot of fun along the way! In our first year, we prepared several pieces for Sunday services and had anywhere from 6 to 12 ringers. We are looking forward to growing our membership, learning more ringing techniques, bringing more unique music in praise, and having a blast all the while. Bell ringing is a more difficult form of musicianship, and our members are encouraged to have a good command of basic rhythms and notation.
