United Methodist Women is becoming United Women in Faith. We’ve taken a new name to better reflect how we answer our calling in today’s world. We are committing to greater inclusivity, action, and impact. We remain women of passion and power, united by God’s love in our mission to support women, children, and youth. The structure and operations of UMW on the local, district & Conference level will continue as they are, but new and improved tools and programs will be available to help each level nurture current members and reach out to new women. There are already many new “Faith Talks” and resources available to us online and you can get lots of info in the free issue of the Response Magazine, which you can access at https://uwfaith.org/resources/response-magazine/
UMW National Assembly is May 20-21 in Orlando FL. We aren’t attending, but want to be a part of it by sending seed packets. One of our ministries teaches children about nutrition through gardening – planting seeds of change for economically disadvantaged children & families who learn how food grows and how it fuels their bodies. We are requesting very specific seeds that are used in the program. They are- Amaranth, Collards, Kale & Malabar Spinach: Just these 4 kinds.
Kindly bring them to the same collection box where we gather cookies for the Shelter. We need them by May 5th so we can get them to our Wisconsin delegation heading to Orlando. Plans are in motion for the Luke 13 BIBLE STUDY in July. This study is prepared by WI Conference UMW and Suamico UMC will host the four session study via zoom in Fellowship Hall. The dates are Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 12 & 14, July 19 & 21. Please plan to join this study for everyone: men, women, youth!
The hope is that everyone leaves this study with a broader vision of the community Christ is calling us to be. What would be possible if we tended to the needs of our community in small, yet radical ways, as Jesus did in Luke 13? Our UWF distributes monetary gifts to Harbor House Crises Shelter in Superior, Children's Services and Northcott Neighborhood House in Milwaukee. Our gift to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) was our best way to specifically send help to Ukraine.
