Summers are sometimes slower times in church, but this summer promises not to be one of those. Many things are happening, and we want your involvement and input.
Worship will move to Fellowship Hall for the summer beginning June 4th. This will be a special communion service focused on the meaning of church, and I hope you’ll be able to attend. On June 18th we’ll be having a special worship service with Music Evangelist Rich Rubietta. Pastor Rich comes from the Northern Illinois Conference and brings an upbeat style to worship. He has a need for someone to tap along on a handheld drum called a djembe – not difficult to play. There are two drumming positions open! During the summer we’ll be refining our design for the new sanctuary – looking at things like lighting, the sound system and how the sanctuary will look from the outside. Another task is asking ourselves the question, What will we do with the current sanctuary once the new one is built? This is a question of mission and vision. Building Committee is meeting June 1 at 6:15 pm. The Youth Mission Trip is July 30 – August 5, and I’m blessed to be able to go with the youth this year. As a way to pass on the blessing, the youth will be sharing in worship the Sunday after they return, on August 6th. Don’t miss worship that Sunday. Mission trips are life changing experiences for young people. We also have Vacation Bible School again this year August 7-10 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. We are looking for someone to help cook the light supper for the kids. Please see Jean Johnson if you can help. Sign up your kids on the website, through the Special Events tab. Let other people know about VBS as well. Lastly, I hope you enjoy Creation this summer, and think often about the majestic and glorious God who made it – and you! See you in church, Pastor Eric |
