![]() SUMC Daily Devotion (6-1-2020) by Pastor Jerry “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” -Matthew 5:7 “Violence begets violence.” That’s the sad reality of the world we live in. However, “An eye for an eye” retaliation will only escalate and perpetuate the vicious circle of violence. Jesus said to his followers, “If someone slaps you on the cheek, don’t hit back. Rather, turn the other cheek.” This does not mean that Jesus wants us to be weak pushovers. This means that Jesus wants us to be strong peace-makers. If we plant the seeds of peace and mercy, we will harvest the fruits of peace and mercy. The world needs the religion of Jesus: “Do no harm. Do good.” Today’s prayer: Dear Lord, we pray for social justice and peace. Help us to be peace-makers. Help us to treat one another with respect and kindness. Amen. 1. Peace begins with you. 2. The greatest hero is he who makes his enemy his friend. -The Talmud 3. I have invested in friendship all my life…and now the dividends were being returned to me in kindness. – Arthur Ashe Jerry Cho: 920-373-3081 Comments are closed.
