From the Pastor

Message from the Pastor

12/30/2020

Greetings! Happy new year to you all!

Last year was a strange, rough, and challenging year. With God’s grace, we have survived and we are still here. If there is one thing we learned last year, that would be the lesson of humility.

No matter how airtight our plans may be, life has a way of disrupting our complacency and overconfidence. So sometimes we have to expect what is unexpected. When we plan for the new year, it may be a good idea if we leave a little room for surprises, disruptions, or rainy days.

We are not always in control, but we can adjust, adapt, change and evolve. Big, old, stubborn oak trees may be broken and uprooted by the mighty storms, but flexible willows dance with stormy winds and let them pass through.

There is no use asking, “How did we get here?” A more worthwhile question would be, “Where do we want to go from here?” Rocket scientist Wernher von Braun said, “Man belongs wherever he wants to go.” As we embark on a new journey in 2021, let’s have a vision, a dream, a goal, and a destination in mind, but let us not forget to enjoy the journey.

“Life is like crossing the Red Sea.” (Martin Luther) The past wants to hold us back. But there is no turning back. We must keep moving forward. If we put one foot in front of another with faith, God will open a new path through the Red Sea and will help us to get to the other side safely.

Let us "walk by faith, not by sight!" (2 Corinthians 5:7) We can make our beautiful dreams come true, if God is willing.
Have a blessed, new year! Grace and peace! Pastor Jerry Cho
