“Do not think more highly of yourself than you ought to think.” – Romans 12:3
We want to think that we are superior to other people. We want privileges that other people don’t have access to. We play one-upmanship. But what we really need is humility, compassion and solidarity with the underprivileged in our society. Little people want to feel superior to others. Great people are humble and modest.
Dear Lord, help us to realize that insecure people want to feel good about themselves by puffing themselves up and putting others down. Help us to be truly great people by lifting others up. Amen.
