![]() SUMC Daily Devotion (6-2-2020) by Pastor Jerry “Whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” -Matthew 12:50 Our idea of family is limited to biological or legal boundary. Some even say, “In-laws are outlaws.” But Jesus broadens our family circle. Jesus breaks down the boundaries of color, nationality, religion, and culture. In the kingdom of God there is only one race, human race. Jesus said: “Whoever you are, if you do the right thing, you are my brother, sister and mother.” If we seek justice and peace, we belong to the family of God where we are brothers and sisters in God. Jesus was a protester against injustice and brutality but Jesus was a non-violent protester. As disciples of Jesus, “let us overcome evil with good.” Today’s prayer: Dear Lord, help us to seek God’s will rather than our self-will. Help us to overcome our racial tension peacefully. Help us to pursue social justice and peace for all people. In God, all lives matter. Amen 1. Blessed are the peace-makers. - Jesus 2. The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice. -The abolitionist minister Theodore Parker (& MLK) 3. The next time your core beliefs are challenged – try being curious instead of furious. –Randy Gage Comments are closed.
