“Just as we have borne the image of the earthly, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.” - 1 Corinthians 15:49
We are not just physical beings but we are also spiritual beings. We need clothes, food, and shelter for body. But we also need faith, hope, and love for our soul. As we exercise to maintain our physical health, we need to discipline ourselves spiritually. Worship, prayer, meditation, reading the Bible and devotional books, journaling and fasting are known to be ways of spiritual discipline. I would also add taking a walk, taking a nap, listening to music, reading books, laughing, singing and dancing as spiritual disciplines. God always speaks to us if we are willing to listen.
Today’s prayer: Dear Lord, as the sunflower looks up to the sun, we want to look up to our Lord, Jesus Christ. We pray that we humbly listen to and obey Jesus’s teachings. Help us to be more like Jesus in our thoughts, words, and actions. Amen.
