“Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains by itself  alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.”
                         - John 12:24

Jesus did not live for himself. Jesus lived and died, loving God and loving humanity. Abraham Lincoln did not live for himself. He lived and died for the unity of our country and the emancipation of slaves. Albert Schweitzer did not live for himself. He gave his life, serving the poor Africans as a medical missionary. The seeds of their sacrificial love for humanity have enriched our human society. Living selflessly and charitably is the way of following Christ.

Today’s prayer:

Dear Lord, help us to remember that the purpose of our lives on earth is to do good for one another. As wheat produces grains by dying on the ground, help us live our lives sacrificially and generously for the good of humanity. Amen.

1.    If you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.
                    -Conan O’brein
2.    Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants.  -Epictetus
3.    Write it in your heart that every day is the best day in the year.
                                            -Ralph Waldo Emerson
